Cathy McCarthy Schetter

Class of 1989

Cathy McCarthy excelled in volleyball, basketball and softball. Cathy was a two time team Most Valuable Player in volleyball and softball and a three time Most Valuable player in basketball.

Cathy was known for her tenacious play as a point guard on the basketball team and a catcher on the softball team. She was a member of the 1989 basketball team which went to the sectional finals.

She is best remembered for helping lead the softball team to a New York State Championship in 1989. That year, she batted .490 while collecting eight doubles, three triples, four home runs 51 RBIs and 58 runs scored.

Her impressive resume of honors includes: Volleyball All League (1 year), Basketball All League (3 years) and Softball All League (3 years); Basketball and Softball All Section (2 years); Poughkeepsie Journal All Star in Basketball (I year) and Softball (2 years); 1989 Poughkeepsie Journal Softball Player of the Year; All State Player in basketball and softball.
