The Video Production Studio is located at Rombout Middle School.

Our two studio sets give us the flexibility for both newscast or interview settings.

The control booth area is designed for maximum efficiency. It provides controls for video switching and special effects between 3 cameras and a playback VCR ("let's go to the videotape"). Also, controls are provided for 5 studio microphones, playback VCR audio, CD player, and the microphone for an announcer. TV monitors are used to see all feeds, as well as the broadcast output.

Beacon's video editing is all done digitally on a computer using 3 SVHS VCRs and an integrated system called Video Toaster Flyer. The addition of the fully integrated Flyer to the Video Toaster gives you some amazing additional tools. Since the Flyer is a tapeless, nonlinear editing system, your work retains every bit of quality from rough to finish, without losing clarity like other tape-bound systems. The Flyer uses a simple drag and drop storyboard interface for editing, so it's as easy as point and click. Record your video and audio segments direct-to-disk as clips, arrange them for editing and make decisions with drag and drop control. You can even make changes instantly because there's no effects rendering to slow you down. No waiting. It's all in real time.
